Details on Ares Design’s Land Rover Defender Spec 1.2
On Thursday in Modena, representative of Italy-based Ares Design released their Land Rover Defender Spec 1.2, a limited-edition model of the world’s favourite off-road vehicle.
In introducing his company’s design, Ares Design CEO Dany Bahar stated that “We created our first Defender Ultra V8 in 2018, so we have great knowledge of the vehicle and [this] led us to create a second edition with an even more distinctive style and refined finish.”
Among the upgrades to the Defender 100 SW model are carbon-fiber body panels, LED headlights and taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels of in-house design, 1.4” lift kit and electronically adjustable suspension and panoramic sunroof. Ares PR touts the “Luxurious handcrafted interior with leather and carbon fiber throughout” as well.
Additionally, out is the four-cylinder diesel engine which makes way for a 4.8-liter V8, more specifically 4750cc V8 engine “capable of delivering 280hp and a torque of 440Nm all supported by a 6-speed automatic transmission.” This all puts this 1.2 right in line with the latest model Defenders: “Powered by the same V8 engine, the Ares Land Rover Defender Spec 1.2 retains the characteristics of the new Defender design but beautifully reimagined to express modernity and luxury,” said Bahar.
Not announced alongside the Land Rover’s specs was the price. In 2020, Ares Design launched its S Project Coupe with a sticker price of $490,000. Estimates from trade media are currently guessing the price tag on the Land Rover Defender Spec 1.2 will run in the $240,000 to $350,000 range.
